Wij hebben al zeer oude herinneringen aan Tony.

In de jaren 60 brachten we vaak de avond door in het cafe van Jacques van Egmond, een oud wielrenner , op de hoek van de Gedempte Gracht en Kleine Houtstraat in Haarlem.

Jacques had een jukebox precies gevuld met  onze smaak.

Daar zaten een paar platen bij van Tony Bennett.

Wij draaiden altijd Rag to Riches en soms I Left My Heart In San Francisco.

Hier is Tony nog een keer met Lady Gaga.

Deze week gaan we in op de levens van 2 beroemde componisten en tekstschrijvers ; Leslie Bricusse en Anthony Newley.
Beide werden in 1931 in Londen geboren. Tony Newley werd vooral bekend door zijn bijdrage aan verschillende James Bond Films en zijn eigen zang carriëre. Leslie Bricusse schreef veel hits voor Matt Monro en Sammy Davis jr.

TOPPYJAZZ JAZZFESTIVAL (Toppyjazz 149)

Hoogzomer bij Radio Westerwolde du tijd voor een bezoek aan TOPPYJAZZ JAZZFESTIVALS.
Allereerst muziek van het AUREX Jazz Festival Tokyo. Thema was Battle of The Horns.
Tony Bennett treffen we in Carnegie Hall waar hij maar liefst 44 nummers de zaal in zong!
Het Dave Brubeck Quartet brengt ons naar Mexico met Bravo ! Brubeck! Live in Mexico.
Zelfs zangeres ( Miss Bril 1960) Nana Mouskouri bezocht het Jazzopen Festival in Stutgart. En warempel ze weet zich goed door jazznummers heen te zingen.
Diane Schuur zingt vanuit Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.
De laatste nummers zijn voor de Dutch Swing College Band vanaf het North Sea Jazz Festival en Chico Hamilton van het Montreux Jazz Festival.
Wij schenken ons nog een glas whisky in....
